Portobello Organic Kitchen: Delightful Italian/British Fare in Notting Hill

A few weeks ago I caught up with a friend over dinner at Portobello Organic Kitchen, a cozy little restaurant located in the heart of Notting Hill. All of their meals are made from locally sourced, organic ingredients, and most of the produce is from the Portobello market. I've been meaning to try it for ages and it did not disappoint!

Most of the menu centers around Italian cuisine with the odd British option here and there (like fish and chips). We both decided to have pizzas since it was half of the menu (and I also never make pizza at home).

I went for one with asparagus, cherry tomatoes, olives, bits of broccoli and mozzarella. The vegetables were fresh and the dough a nice combination of chewy and crispy.

Avocado and Egg on Toast: Quick, Easy, and Tasty Brunch

Hello Readers!

I normally stick with oatmeal during the week, but on the weekends I wake up a wee bit later and like to eat something that will sustain me for a prolonged study session. This dish will take you less than 10 minutes to prepare, and will keep you full for hours!

Toast, tomato paste, avocado, and an egg. That's it.

Fresh juice, and in the name of being resourceful, "Meatball" bites a la pulp

We started with a juice post-workout this morning.  We had one beet, a cucumber, two stalks of celery, four pieces of kale, three carrots (big carrots), a chunk of ginger, and a handful of parsley.  Into the omega juicer it went, and we were left with this amazing juice:

Dinner Tonight: Bok Choy & Broccoli with Szechuan Sauce

This recipe was inspired by the ingredients we had on hand from our seasonal, organic produce box.  It all started with chanterelle mushrooms, broccoli, bok choy, and green onions.  The szechuan sauce is delicious and, while it has 10 ingredients, I'd be willing to bet you either have them in your kitchen or have easy substitutes on hand.  Here's what we've got:

Zest: Organic Veggie Burgers in Amsterdam, Delivered

A while ago I had one of those "I don't have any food at home and I really don't feel like going to the grocery store and cooking" days. It doesn't happen often, because I love to cook and try to make my own meals whenever possible. But when you're tired, hungry, and all you have to eat are a few onions and ground flax's time for delivery.
